WHEREAS, several species of animal life live in Canada that are considered to be endangered or threatened; and
WHEREAS, Canada has shown initial interest in its endangered and threatened species; and
WHEREAS, the success of protecting these species depends upon the participation and cooperation of all countries within the continent;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the American Society of Mammalogists encourages Canada and its various Provinces that do not at present have laws regarding endangered species to enact legislation of a kind that will identify and protect endangered species and their habitats; and
FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED, that Canada cooperate fully with the United States and Mexico in developing a formal agreement for research, rehabilitation and protection on and for those species which are shared by them.
